RESEARCH + PRACTICE
Loren works across building, furniture, visual art, designing and making. His practice is focused on the point of interaction between societies, housing needs and concerns for the environment. His building practice ranges from domestic and retail design and construction in Australia to managing humanitarian shelter programs overseas, and assisting in research and the development of materials, manuals and training programs. Loren’s visual art practice was developed through research into natural forms, the nature of the material and the use of repetition. He employs old methods and develops new techniques for working with wood and other materials, including the development of steam bending Australian timbers.
