RESEARCH + PRACTICE
Jordan Lacey is a practicing sound artist and sonic researcher based in Melbourne, Australia, with a particular interest in creating sound installations and performances using site-specific sounds. He has recently completed a PhD in urban sound design and teaches into various university courses on this topic.
He has created sound works for the City of Melbourne, National Gallery of Victoria, Liquid Architecture Sound-Art Festival and Australian Computer Music Association. Jordan's sonic ideas and philosophies have been widely published including book chapters, journal articles and conference presentations. His discussions range from practical analyses of approaches to an urban sound design practice to the social and political expressions of urban sounds. He is presently writing a book on the topic of urban soundscape design, which is aimed at students, academics and practitioners.
