Every war raises questions. These questions need their own space. This research project began with an exploration of ‘Emotive Materials’ – materials that can create both conscious and unconscious emotions that enable a vivid experience in space. The research culminated in the design of a memorial that is a response to war. The memorial embodies a response that is contemplative and reflective, one that utilises materials and space to express the emotions embedded in various aspects of war. Through the use of emotive material, the memorial stands as a space that provokes people to think more about war.
